The January transfer window is open and football managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer. So here's today's football transfer roundup...
English Women's Super League leaders Arsenal have signed Denmark winger Katrine Veje from French side Montpellier. The 27-year-old has won more than 100 caps and had spells playing in Denmark, Sweden and the United States. The length and terms of Veje's contract have not been disclosed

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is edging closer to a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco. The 31-year-old is entering the final six months of his Chelsea deal and is prepared to move on with playing time hard to come by this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has told Eden Hazard to stay with Chelsea. Martinez believes a move to Real Madrid wouldn't work for the Belgian.

Inter Milan are willing to offer a two year contract to Manchester United's Ashley Young. The 33-year-old is free to talk to foreign clubs as he is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree terms on a new deal at United. United have discussed giving Young a one year extension.

Fiorentina have beaten AC Milan to the loan signing of Sevilla striker Luis Muriel. Colombia international Muriel became Sevilla's record signing when he joined from Sampdoria for a reported €22 million (N9 billion) in July 2017, but he has failed to live up to expectations.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery refused to rule out moving for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill after victory over Fulham. Emery confirmed plans he hoped to buy this month.

French football club Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld. Despite Spurs recently taking up a 12-month option in the player's contract, PSG remain keen on Alderweireld. The Belgium international's deal carries a €28m buyout clause - which suits PSG. Alderweireld is also being linked with Manchester United this season.

Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic has joined Chelsea in a £58 million (N26.4billion) deal. The American winger has been immediately loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season. With Pulisic unable to agree terms on a extension for his current contract, which was set to expire in 2020, Dortmund decided it was best to cash in on the 20-year-old.

Villarreal and Girona have spoken to Chelsea about signing Baba Rahman on loan as he is set to cut-short from his Schalke loan spell early. Rahman spent more than a year out injured after tearing his cruciate ligament at the African Cup of Nations with Ghana; an injury which has had a sufficient impact on his 18-month loan spell at the Bundesliga club. The 24-year-old is looking for a six-month loan deal to revitalise his career and is currently fit to play despite only appearing for 327 minutes this season.
