Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi, is a well-known international singer from Nigeria.
This came after a Twitter user said they loved all of Simi’s features but weren’t fans of her voice on her singles.
“I love all of Simi’s features, but I’m not really a big fan of her voice on singles. I can’t wait for this one!”
Simi took issue with this post, accusing the user of validating her voice based solely on the fact that she mostly has traits associated with the opposite gender.
Simi claimed to be the same writer and vocalist, but most people don’t acknowledge her talent until a man features her.
“The voice is exactly the same. by the same author. the same vocalist. It would hurt to hear this, yet some of you wait for men to approve of my talent before recognizing it (since na dem dey highlight me). I say this sincerely and without any animosity. I’m just used to it now, and I believe that instead of making it appear as though I press my magic button when singing my own songs, people should just appreciate what they prefer. You won’t lose to anyone.
